Perwinkle for the Thirty-Somethings

by periwinkle shop Posted on June 06, '14
Periwinkle can offer a little something for everyone, no matter what age! Rachel [Periwinkle's manager], who just entered her 30's, styles three great outfit ideas for three different summer occasions. Whether it is a small beach wedding or a business meeting, this fashionista nails it.
For lunch with a client, Rachel pairs a studded Trina Turk lace top with the polka dot skater skirt by Yoana Baraschi. Along with a classic black and white striped blazer, Rachel adds a gold bow belt to emphasize the gold studs on her top.
Summer is all about weekend getaways and vacationing.  Rachel is now ready for a day trip to Annapolis. White Tomboy Jeans by AG, a spicy animal print tee by our favorite brand [Before & Again], and Island Company boyfriend shades make for an easy, summer look. Rachel never leaves home without a large tote to carry any goodies she may find on her outings.  This thirty-something is ready to spend the day having some fun.
Weddings take place all over, but a popular summertime venue is always the beach. With a Yoana Baraschi printed wrap dress, a black and white hat to keep out the sun, and a cute beach-themed starfish clutch, Rachel is wedding ready for any party by the water.
All outfits are available at our Potomac Greens location.

Periwinkle for the Twenty-Somethings

by periwinkle shop Posted on June 05, '14
During a season full of events, periwinkle can style you up for all occasions.  As a new post grad, I am becoming accustomed to being a freshman in the real world, full of networking events and summer weddings. Sometimes finding the right outfit can be as stressful as looking for a new job but here are some fashionable, fabulous, and fun go-to outfits for all you twenty-somethings just starting out like me.
After 4 years of college, my job search has begun. Finding an interview outfit that cannot only give you confidence but make you look like the employee they have been looking for is the key to success. Above is a great outfit, especially for a summertime interview.  This dress [by Yoana Baraschi] is one of my favorites in the store. Modern meets classic here with clean lines but a playful neon coral color and a subtle print. Paired with a clutch, simple gold, and turquoise earrings as well as strappy nude heels complete the look for any twenty-something's next interview.
This time of year is full of backyard barbecues and outdoor activities. Look no further than this Lilla P Maxi Dress for your perfect summer dress. Paired with some stellar shades from Island Company, you are ready for an afternoon of grilling and fun.
Weddings, weddings and more weddings. It is that time of year. This marvelous mint Yoana Barschi dress is just right for an afternoon-time wedding in the city. Outdo the bride with this stellar ensemble that includes a gold and white chevron clutch, nude heels and coral accessories for some color contrast.
All outfits available at Periwinkle of Potomac Greens.

A Capital Wedding: Mystique Jewelers

by periwinkle shop Posted on April 22, '14

For a bride, the engagement ring and the wedding dress are definitely tops on her list of priorities. One will be seen in pictures for years to come, and one worn on her hand for a lifetime.  We wanted our bride to be decked out in the finest bridal jewelry and knew exactly who to ask.  Mystique Jewelers adorned the bride in some of the most gorgeous jewels - and well, for that engagement ring...they definitely delivered.

Mystique Jewelers owner and designer, Elizabeth Mandros, styled the bride in four different looks including a cushion cut diamond engagement ring, Linea diamond flower necklaces, black diamond stacking eternity bands, diamond and gold leaf earrings and emerald cut diamond hoops.

Mystique Jewelers has been on the cutting edge of designer jewelry since its inception in 1991, when owner Elizabeth Mandros opened the store in Old Town, Alexandria. Located on the waterfront, Mystique is a sophisticated fine jewelry boutique carrying coveted designer lines such as Alberto Parada and Jude Frances. But, Mystique's speciality is custom designs. If you are planning on getting engaged, their master goldsmith and diamond experts can help you create a truly remarkable, one of a kind engagement ring. You can get ideas on their website here

A Capital Wedding: Free Spirit Floral

by periwinkle shop Posted on April 15, '14

If you've had a chance to look through our bridal catalog, then you've noticed the creative and beautiful arrangements from Free Spirit Floral.  They designed the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquets, mother of the bride corsage and centerpiece for the reception photos.  And, can we just say wow! We were absolutely in love with the uniqueness and artistry of each creation.

The bridal pictures just pop with the stunning floral displays! The arrangements incorporated white orchids (our fav!) and white roses -   and the monochromatic color scheme looked exquisite with each bridal style.

Free Spirit Floral owner, Mary Beth Buchholz, and her team really outdid themselves! Mary Beth worked for several years downtown in Washington, DC, and then traded her political career in for flowers full time. Now she designs creations for special events, dinner parties, holiday affairs, weddings and other religious services.  Her team is committed to artistic excellence and customer service.  A big thank you to Mary Beth and her wonderful team for adding such a special touch to our bridal catalog.

We were thrilled to have so many fabulous vendors participate in our bridal catalog.  Over the upcoming weeks, we are going to highlight them right here on the blog.  Ruth Barzel has been a long time favorite of Periwinkle.  Her gorgeous designs are truly one of a kind pieces that combine classic elegance with a twist.  We carry Ruth Barzel Jewelry Designs in the store and feature her on our website as the perfect accessory for any look.
Ruth also designs custom jewelry for weddings, so it only made sense to have her adorn the bridesmaids, mother of the bride and flower girl for our bridal photoshoot. Her pieces are all 100% handmade and crafted with intermixed chains, semiprecious stones, pearls and cubic zirconia.  Earlier this year, Ruth launched Ruthie B, her new kids' birthstone jewelry collection.

Don't miss Ruth Barzel Jewelry Designs this week at Potomac Greens.  We will be featuring some of her favorite bridal looks from the catalog along with many more beautiful designs!
